Lincoln Home National Historic Site

We left Michigan after a great visit with friends there.  In the time it takes us to drive from Fairbanks to Anchorage we drove from Michigan through Indiana, through Illinois, and into Missouri.  Four states! We stopped in Springfield, Illinois to visit the Lincoln Home National Historic Site.  It is the home that Lincoln lived in with his family prior to becoming president.  This was where he began his political career.  The house and contents are 85% original and sits in the original location.

Lincoln's home in Springfield, Illinois.

The front parlor.  It is interesting to think who may have been here.

Lincoln's desk where he probably wrote his campaign speeches.

Stereoscope.  They were pretty high tech.

Mrs. Lincoln's prized stove.
