In LA we went to the Le Brea Tar Pits. Tar pits form when crude oil seeps to the surface. The Le Brea pits are in a section of Los Angeles and are a site of ongoing excavation. So fat over 650 species of Pleistocene Epoch plants and animals, including saber-toothed cats, dire wolves, giant sloths, and short-faced bear. It is the richest and best preserved Pleistocene vertebrates found.

We moved up the coast to Monterey. We spent the day biking along the shoreline and taking in the sights of Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf.

Sydney and I went San Jose to watch the U14 Icebreaker team play in the Pacific District Hockey Tournament. We tagged along with the team while they went to watch the San Jose Sharks practice.

We also visited with friends in Alameda and went with them to take in the sights of San Francisco.
